Dear YogaDownload Students,
I’m so grateful to be highlighted as the teacher of the month. I feel so excited and enthusiastic when given the opportunity to film for Yoga Download and it has been a privilege to be a part of this community. Not only have I been able to connect with so many students from around the world, but I’ve really enjoyed maintaining relationships with the people behind the scenes! For me, yoga brings me home to myself and I’m so thrilled to help facilitate that for others.
Through yoga, I have met my husband and all of my closest friends. I love that we have a similar goal in mind to live our lives to the fullest with kindness, compassion, patience and acceptance. I approach teaching like I approach life and that means embracing my cynical side. I understand that life changes and people change, I don’t believe that there is “one way” to do things and I believe in giving students the space to figure out what is true for them throughout a practice. As a bit of a rebel myself, I don’t subscribe to a certain dogma and I try to leave my classes open for a bit of interpretation, while still keeping things structured.
I’m looking forward to our future together. Namaste!
What inspires your teaching?
I am inspired by the moments that have been the most humbling for me, moments where I’ve had no choice but to go with the flow and allow things to happen. In hindsight, these ego death experiences were my biggest teachers.
What teachers have impacted you the most?
Annie Carpenter is a no BS woman who is a master of her craft. When she speaks, I want to listen and I’ve only experienced awe and wonder when I’m in her presence.
