Dear YogaDownload Students: I’m honored to be teacher of the month and so grateful to be a part of the YogaDownload community. Thank you for taking my classes and sharing your thoughts. I’m always open to feedback and I love to find more opportunities for growth. I strongly believe that yoga should be accessible for everyone. If you can practice yoga in your home, on vacation, or at work, then YogaDownload.com makes it easier to incorporate yoga into your everyday life. There are so many talented teachers on YogaDownload.com. I encourage you to try all styles of yoga and find the ones that speak to you so that your commitment to yoga lasts. It’s a beautiful journey, and each day your body will need something a little different.
In your words, what is yoga?
My husband has a joke, he says “ You think Yoga is the answer to everything.” For me, it is the answer to most things, including stress, exhaustion, worry, sadness, sore body, and releasing energy. Yoga has taught me awareness-- of my body, my mind, the present moment, and mostly awareness of my breath. Yoga makes me a better mom, wife, and friend because it teaches me to listen and be nonreactive. In a unsettled world, I’m constantly reminded of the benefits I receive from yoga.
What teachers/teachings have impacted you the most?
There are so many amazing teachers in the Denver area that I am inspired by. I’m beyond grateful to have so many great options. One of my favorite teachers is Kristin Gibowicz, who has a lot of great classes on YDL. She has been one of my teachers from the very beginning. I’ve also been fortunate to study with Jonny Kest who is an Ashtanga Yogi based out of Michigan. I learn something from every class I take and I constantly feel inspired by all the talent around me.
What inspires your teaching?
My students inspire me the most. I love to hear the benefits they receive from practice and how yoga has changed their life. My love of music and movement inspire my teaching as well. I love getting lost in a flow, where the mind is still and the breath is deep.
Blair's journey with yoga began in 2005 as she began to explore new ways to heal an injured hip. That began a love affair that's only grown deeper through the years. Fueled by her passion and curiosity, Blair's inspiration comes from her students. Blair encourages her students to connect deeply into the space of their body and to find their own spiritual path thru the study of yoga. Her classes are fun, challenging, uplifting, and approachable. She wants her students to leave empowered and grounded. Blair enjoys teaching Ashtanga Vinyasa and an energetic Vinyasa class. She loves working with students of all levels and enjoys bringing everyday life into yoga and yoga into everyday life.
