A message to my YogaDownload students: Thank you to everyone who has ever done yoga with me in their living room, basement or on vacation. I am so grateful to all of you. I am so fortunate to be able to do what I do as a career and a large part of that is due to your support.
In your words, what is yoga?
Remember those shirts that said, "Baseball is Life" or "Swimming is Life"? Well to me yoga is life. In every situation I see yoga. Whether it's playing with my son, trying to be in the present moment or driving in traffic, trying to keep my cool, I see opportunities to practice yoga. Always striving to keep that steady, content state of mind.
What yoga teachers have impacted me the most?
I've been so fortunate to have so many lovely teachers in my life. This list is long:
1. Stacy Herndon of Bikram Yoga Grapevine - she initially encouraged me to become a yoga teacher. It was in her studio that I transformed the most and fell in love with the practice of yoga.
2. Karen Boeser and Mindy Arbuckle - they were my teacher trainers and I believe I received one of the best trainings out there. The perfect balance of asana study along with philosophy.
3. Dawnelle Arthur (also a Yogadownload.com instructor) - I fell in love with Dawnelle's style of vinyasa yoga after being introduced to her by a friend. Little did I know where my relationship with her would take me! She has given me so many opportunities as a yoga teacher and taught me so much. Every time I attend her class I learn something new.
4. Scott Anderson of Warrior Academy - Scott has the gift of applying yoga philosophy into every day life and also teaching alignment in easily digestible nuggets. I picked up so many cues from him and he always had me thinking after class.
What inspires my teaching?
Life. Everyday life.
