Michael Cohen

Michael H. Cohen leads high-powered, energetic and transformative Kirtan events that blend Eastern spirituality with Western musical influences, enabling participants to play with energy through music. Yoga Chicago Magazine called his recent release, Om Dattatreya: Journey to the West "chantable, interesting, and addictive.” LA Yoga Magazine called the recordings "flawless and energetic.” His world music chanting is an expression of the Dattatreya lineage of Swami Kaleshwar (www.kaleshwar.org) and Shirdi Sai Baba as transmitted by his spiritual teacher, Philip Lipetz. In 2000, after a successful career as a jazz saxophonist, Mike discovered and was drawn into the practice of sacred chanting. He currently tours internationally, leading Kirtan events and workshops that bring practitioners to Bhakti (devotion) and Beyond. Mike’s introductory workshops guide beginning practitioners into the experience of leading Kirtan. He teaches experienced chant leaders to create powerful Kirtan by developing their capacity in the domains of leadership, musicianship and spirituality/energetics.
