Day 9 - 2-Week Grounding and Gratitude Challenge

Day 9 - 2-Week Grounding and Gratitude Challenge

Welcome to Day 9 of our 2-Week Grounding and Gratitude Challenge!

Tuesday, November 19th

You’re in the home stretch now, and your commitment is shining brightly. Each day you’ve shown up, you’ve planted seeds of stability, strength, and self-care—and they’re growing into something amazing. Today, let’s build on that foundation and explore what it means to create both stability and opportunity in your life.

Your options today are as unique as your journey: a 25-minute class focused on cultivating stability, perfect for finding balance and grounding, or a fiery 40-minute intermediate vinyasa flow with a playful theme on bringing luck into your life. Luck often comes from being present, prepared, and open to possibilities—let today’s practice inspire that mindset.

Take this time for yourself to recharge and refocus. And don’t forget to check in with a comment after class to keep your streak alive and stay in the running for our prize packages! 🌟🍀

You’re doing amazing—let’s keep this energy flowing!

Here are today's class options:

But First, Stability with Ellen Kaye

25 min class

Level:  Adv. Beginner & Up | Intensity: Everyday Namaste

This efficient class will guide you to stabilize your breath, your hips, and your low back in order to promote healthy twisting. It will culminate in a twisted arm balance (side crow)! When we start with stability, we promote longevity and balance inside our practice of yoga.

How to Get Lucky with Mark Morford

40 min class

Level: Intermediate | Intensity: You'll Feel It

Here’s a fantastic practice designed to dissolve neurotic, luckless linearity. It’s a low-down, swirling, looping, spiraling Shakti dance, working deep into the legs and hips and peaking in a feral, full-body mandala that gets repeated about five times – but of course you can pause the video and do it 103 more because, well, why not? After all, demand the world conform to your narrow expectations, and be more miserable. Release your demand and fully relax into the impossible swirl, and watch luck leap into your lap like a dog in heat. You know, in a good way.

*you only need to choose one class

**If you're feeling in the mood for something different you can choose any of our free classes on our site (or any other class you'd like!). The most important thing is to show up and get on your mat!

Share your challenge experience in the comments section below and/or do a post or story on IG or Facebook (be sure to tag @yogadownload) for a chance to win a prize package! Each comment and post/story counts as one entry.

My side body loved But First, Stability! Thanks Ellen!

I really enjoyed Mark's class, a very spiritual flow with lots of surprises. It really kept me on my toes and got me out of my head. Much needed after a stressful work day.

i did the stability class which had 1 pose im still trying to master. it was a short but effective practice for gaining stability.

I took Ellen’s class yesterday because I was short on time, and it was perfect! I’m not ready for any kind of side crow, but I left the class with a smile.

Ellen did a good job isolating the side muscles in "But First, Stability". I was able to hover momentarily in side crow if I balanced my hip on my other tricep, but I don't know if that is a normal way to achieve the pose.

Went with Ellen’s stability class given its 9pm..

Avatar  Desyree 1 days ago

But first stability was great! I love any classes that focus on the middle back and I will try to remember the tips for hip stability during other classes!

I chose Ellen's stability class tonight and really liked it. There were a couple of challenging poses that I had to pick a different path for, but overall it felt great.

I chose Mark’s class. It’s a very strong class that gets me moving.

I did Mariah’s class from yesterday. What a treat. I was a bit confused by some of the instructions but made it mine and loved it. Feeling calmer, more me. Thank you for this challenge, which helps me get out of my own way and get on the mat. It makes such a difference in my life!

Ellen Kaye's practice was short, sweet but challenging! I found out I had upper rib muscles that I never knew were there before! Thank you!

Avatar  Amy 1 days ago

I opted for Ellen’s But First, Stability class and really got to feel what she meant by tapping into the upper rib cage side body. Side crow is definitely a goal and not a reality for me at this point, but it was good to get myself closer to the shape.

This was my first class with Ellen. I can't seem to stage my knees & elbows well enough to do crow (yet), but all the twisting really felt nice in my side ribs. Didn't realize I was that stiff today. I look forward to trying more of her classes.

I gave Ellen's Stability class a try today, but it wasn't really for me. For some reason the long holds just bothered me today, and I really wasn't mentally prepared to try crow. I think I just enjoy a more vinyasa type practice. It was good to give something different a try but I think I would have been better off with a nice long stretch instead.

The next couple of days are going to be a little chaotic, but I'm committed to showing up for myself in this way. Even by doing the shorter practices I can reap massive benefits. I've already notcied a positive change in my body and overall mood in such a short span of time. I'm not stopping anytime soon!

I didn't have very much time today, so I did Caitlin Rose Kenney's Stability Practice, which was about 15-20 minutes long. It hit all the muscle groups and had time to stretch as well. Good class! Good challenge!

Marks how to get lucky class was really good and fun. I got a little lost in the transitions but “luckily” found my way back to balance both sides🍀😂. Would definitely take this class again to gain power in my legs! Thank you 🙏🏻🧘‍♀️

I liked that the stability class is a bit shorter than our previous classes even though it was still quite challenging!

Avatar  Macsek 1 days ago

Uh that lucky practice was also really-really good and warmed me up. After these 9 days I feel more fluid I was more concentrated and enegetic at my dance class today as well!

Avatar  Jennie 1 days ago

I chose But First, Stability. I hadn't attempted side crow in probably 2 years so it was nice to have a class focused on prepping for that pose. It wasn't as easy as it used to be when I was younger, but I was able to get into the pose for a few seconds, which was exciting for me.

Avatar  Valerie 1 days ago

I was short on time and wanted to relax after a strenuous bike ride, so I did a 10-minute stretching sequence today. Now onto a hot bath!

Avatar  Dar241 1 days ago

I went with Ellen's stability class this morning. This was my first class with her. I appreciated her references to the muscles she was focusing on throughout the class. Couldn't swing the side crow myself, but her ease of the pose was impressive!

Loved the stability class!

I went back to Mariah Betts Yoga for every body - moving forward for a nice, relaxing practice.

Avatar  Baynicole 1 days ago

I went back a few days and chose Kylie's hour long class. It was quite challenging, but I had the time and she is a great instructor. I'm glad I practiced with her today!

Avatar  MPYoga 1 days ago

Today, I did Ellen's class and it was surprising challenging for me! I was also not able to do the arm balancing posture.

Avatar  Nina 1 days ago

Ellen’s class was a nice combination of poses with a focus on core and just the right length to fit into a busy day.

Did Ellen’s stability yoga day 9
Great class

I liked Mark’s class ; interesting And fun as much flows. I will do this one again later Thank you!

Avatar  Mimi 1 days ago

Well, I'm always skeptical when I choose a class labeled "intermediate", but chose Mark's class anyway. Wow! So fun with lots of movement and transitions and stretches. I missed a couple of transitions but mostly kept up and it was fun fun fun. Definitely will try this one again and again and also look at Mark's other classesa om shanti

Stability First with Ellen - Excellent instruction and leaves me feeling strong and stable. A great start to my day!

Avatar  Jenn 1 days ago

I got ambitious and tried Mark’s class first thing in the morning. A little too fast paced for waking up the body but left me warm and energized for the day!

Avatar  Vania 1 days ago

I took Mark´s class Great practice ,the only comment I have is I wish he wasn’t talking so much 😊

Avatar  Joinaz 1 days ago

I did Ellen's stability class, good class, could never do crow. But excellent instruction.

Avatar  Laura Holm 1 days ago

Felt like trying something different today, so I tried Erin Wimert’s Weight it Out. First time doing a yoga with weights class. Great full body workout.
